SMALL GAMES. BIG FUN.
FOR PARENTS

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 16, 2026

Simple Arcade (simplearcade.app) is a free set of browser games for kids ages 5–12, run by Jason Gangwish. We built it to collect as little as possible. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and how you can see or delete it.

The short version

Kids and COPPA

Simple Arcade is made for children, so we follow the spirit and the rules of the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Kids are never asked for their name, email, age, location, photo, or any other personal information. Playing as a guest sends nothing about the child to us.

To save scores, a parent signs in and creates player nicknames. We ask parents to use a made-up nickname (like “Pixel Panda”), not a real name. Nicknames appear on the scoreboard; parent emails never do. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

What we collect and why

Parent email (for sign-in)

When a parent asks for a sign-in link, we store the email address so we can send a one-time link and connect saved scores to the account. The link expires in 20 minutes and works once. We limit how many links can be sent to stop abuse.

Sign-in sessions

After signing in, your browser gets a single sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it. It is not used for tracking or advertising. Signing out deletes the session.

Player nicknames and game scores

For signed-in accounts we store the nicknames you create (up to 12) and the results of ranked games: which game, the score, and when it was played. This powers your saved scores and the friendly scoreboard.

Newsletter (optional)

If a parent signs up to hear about new games, we store that email address on our newsletter list. It is separate from sign-in and completely optional.

On the device

The site remembers which player was last selected using your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Basic technical data

Like any website, our hosting provider handles standard request information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and keep the service secure and working. We use it only for operating and protecting the site, not for profiles or ads. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests those font files from Google. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and counts page views in aggregate without collecting personal data or tracking individuals.

What we do not do

Who helps us run Simple Arcade

We use two service providers that process data only to run the site for us:

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users.

How long we keep data

Reviewing or deleting your data

Signed-in parents can see their player nicknames and saved scores under Sign in → Who’s playing?. To get a copy of what we have, correct it, or delete your account, nicknames, scores, or newsletter signup, email privacy@simplearcade.app from the parent email address. We will confirm and handle it promptly. Parents can also tell us to stop any further collection at any time.

Unsubscribing from the newsletter

Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email privacy@simplearcade.app and we will remove you.

Security

Sign-in links and session cookies are random and stored only as hashes. The site runs over HTTPS. No system is perfect, but we keep data small so there is less to protect.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the effective date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, especially anything about children, we will tell parents by email and ask for consent where the law requires it before the change applies.
